Our THAT SCIENCE GANG Guest Speakers are David Lampard and Nat Scherer.
DAVID LAMPARD
David is best known throughout Australia (as well as a few other countries) as the science host of the popular Channel 9 children’s program, Y?. His other television credits include ABC Asia-Pacific’s Nexus, ABC TV’s Behind The News and Channel 7’s AM Adelaide.
David is a skilled and vastly experienced science communicator, speaker and performer. He has worked extensively with four of Australia’s foremost educational science institutions (CSIRO Science Education Centre Adelaide, Questacon, Queensland Sciencentre and The Investigator) and writes regularly for Pearson Education Australia.
David created THAT SCIENCE GANG as ‘That Science Guy’ in late December 2002 as a successful fundraiser for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. In 2006 (with the MS Society’s blessing) he turned That Science Guy into his own business and a year later found a few like-minded friends and re-created the company as THAT SCIENCE GANG. The group now visits more than 20,000 students and teachers throughout South Australia and Tasmania each year.
He is also the co-creator and one half of the duo of Rock Chick & Science Geek (he’s The Geek!), an innovative series of interactive, scientific concerts that perform for festivals and other events.
David is also a talented and experienced professional music theatre performer and multi-award winning and nominated director.
“David has tremendous energy and enthusiasm, plus an absolute commitment to science communication. His dedication and purpose are obvious and his professional science shows are outstanding both in science and presentation. David brings his considerable and varied talents to each of his performances, making them a memorable learning experience for his audiences who return time and again for more exciting science education.”
